Known issues and limitations

This page covers current limitations in Arkio Web and practical ways to work around them. Check the linked guides for detailed instructions.
General issues
Device and browser compatibility: Arkio Web is not yet supported on every device and browser. See our tested browsers and devices for compatibility guidance.
Moving connected objects: Connected parts of Arkio geometry may not always move or reshape together. When moving a complete structure, select the parts you want to move together in a group.
Large or complex scenes: Detailed models and large scenes can slow down Arkio or exceed your browser’s available memory, particularly on mobile devices. If performance slows, reduce Model detail in Settings or simplify the scene. For larger projects, try a more powerful device with more available memory and a Chromium-based browser, such as Chrome or Edge.
Cloud saving can take time: Recent changes may be saved on your current device before they are uploaded to your account. Check that the status shows Saved to cloud before switching devices. If uploading fails, use the retry option shown in the save status. If Arkio asks you to Choose version, review the options before continuing; changes made on separate devices are not automatically merged.
AI agent
Background work is not guaranteed: Switching to another tab may slow or pause progress, and closing or reloading the page can interrupt a task. Keep your tab/window open while the agent works and check its status when you return.
Requests may be delayed or interrupted: Arkio can retry some temporary service failures, but not every interrupted request can recover automatically. Check the status message before sending the same request again.
Stopping keeps completed changes: Stopping a request does not undo changes already made or AI credit usage already incurred, so your design may be partially updated. Review the result, then ask the agent to “Continue the previous task”, mentioning any changes you want it to preserve or correct.
New requests may wait in a queue: Messages sent while the agent is working are normally queued. Use Send now to prioritize a correction; changes already completed will remain. If the queue is paused, use Continue queue when you are ready.
Agent attachments have a separate size limit: Files attached to an AI message are limited to 100 files and 50 MB in total. Uploading a reference to the chat does not place it in the scene. Use Import for model placement. See Working with the AI agent for supported attachments and sketch instructions.
Collaboration
Shared editing requires an active connection: Editing, including AI changes, pauses if the meeting disconnects or cloud saving fails. Wait for the connection and saving to recover before continuing. Offline editing of shared scenes is not supported.
Working across devices and browser tabs: Sign in to access your saved chats and scenes on another device or browser. Using the same private chat and scene on multiple devices simultaneously is not yet supported. You can open different chats in separate tabs within the same browser to let agents work on different scenes concurrently. To work with other people in the same scene, use a shared-scene link.
Meeting audio and microphone access: Safari is not currently supported for voice between meeting participants. If Arkio reports that your microphone is already in use, mute meeting audio or end AI voice in the other Arkio tab before starting another voice session. You can still use Group chat to communicate.
Editing requires signing in: Anyone with a viewing link can explore your scene without an account. To make changes, participants need an edit link and must sign in to Arkio. Access to AI features still depends on each participant’s account.
Previously shared edit links remain valid: Switching the sharing option to “Can view” creates a viewing link but does not revoke edit links you have already shared. Only share edit links with people you trust.
Agent conversations remain private: Collaborators can see changes your agent makes to the shared scene, but your agent conversation is not automatically shared. Use Group chat to share instructions, updates, and results with other participants.
Live collaboration limitations: Working together in the same scene with multiple users and AI agents is still experimental. You may encounter synchronization issues or conflicting edits. Coordinate changes with other participants and avoid editing the same part of the model at the same time.
Import & export
Arkio plugins require the Windows workflow: Use Arkio 2.3.3 for Windows from the Arkio download page to receive plugin exports. Keep Arkio on your PC running and connect it and Arkio Web to the same Arkio Cloud group. Signing in with the same email does not connect the device group automatically. See Import models into Arkio Web.
Import size: Direct model uploads through Import are limited to 200 MB per file. For larger models, prepare them in Arkio on your PC, then connect both versions to the same Arkio Cloud group using its link code. This does not remove your browser’s memory and performance limits.
Interacting with large imported models: Large or complex models may appear before their collision data has finished loading. During this time, selecting objects, placing items on surfaces, or navigating onto floors may not work reliably. Allow extra loading time, or import a smaller section of the model.
Imported models can block exports: Browser exports support Arkio geometry and built-in props, but imported reference models are not generally supported. If an export reports an unsupported imported model, prepare a separate copy of the scene without that model and try again. Exported files are limited to 256 MB.
Returning work to plugins requires a manual download: Exports for Revit, Rhino, and SketchUp download through your browser. Extract the downloaded ZIP and follow the plugin import steps in the import and export guide. They are not automatically sent back to your authoring application.
IFC exports: IFC exports include geometry created in Arkio, but exclude imported models, furniture, maps, sketches, and textures. Complex scenes can exceed the exporter’s processing or size limits; try a smaller scene if export fails. Exported geometry is represented as generic building elements, rather than native parametric walls or slabs.
Tutorial
Tutorial coverage is still expanding: Design with the AI agent, Modeling tools, and Import & export are available. The interactive Review & collaborate tutorial is coming soon; use the collaboration guide in the meantime.
If you encounter a problem, use Report an issue in Arkio Web and describe what happened and what you expected. See Report an issue from Arkio Web for what the report includes. To suggest improvements or discuss and vote on ideas, see How to share feedback.
